Barner Christian Academy - Davao City, Phillippines
Paul M Barner Ministries and Barner Christian Academy purpose is to bring the Gospel to the people of the Philippines. Reverend Paul is our Pastor Phil's brother. Pastor Paul and his family, Elvie, PJ, and Abigail visit Andover Alliance each time they are in the USA. Our VBS in 2012 helped raise money for the BCA Jeepney Project. In 2013, the VBS raised money to support a BCA student for a year.

Jeffery and Bethany Sootheran
Jeffery Sootheran grew up attending the Andover C&MA church. He prayed to receive Christ and became a believer at home after a VBS meeting the summer he turned six. He got baptized through the church when he turned fourteen. He attended the church's youth group as a teen, taught Sunday School, and helped lead the weekly worship service with Pastor Bruce Crossley. After high school, Jeff attended Nyack College, graduating with a bachelor's degree in religious studies, then returned to Andover to co-lead the town wide youth group and worked for Youth for Christ while attending seminary.
He met Bethany Anderson, daughter of Pastor Bill Anderson, about a month after her family moved to Andover to lead the CMA church. She studied ballet in Alfred as a high school student and periodically performed worship dances at church. Upon her high school graduation, Bethany volunteered to help with the youth group.
Jeff and Bethany got married in the Wellsville C&MA church in August 2005 and moved to Mississippi so Bethany could train with Ballet Magnificat while Jeff worked at the Mississippi College library. They volunteered to teach the English Bible study at a Chinese church for international students for more than seven years and moved to China in August 2014 to begin fulfilling their calling to missions. Bethany taught ballet while Jeff managed the arts center that they owned for several years. During this time, he led small groups and a weekly fellowship. In October 2023, they moved to Thailand so Jeff could take the position as head librarian at Grace International School, a K-12 school started by five mission agencies - the C&MA is one of the five founders.
